In F&B, a crew member can often walk into a similar role down the road next week. Keeping good people comes down to a handful of practical things done consistently well.

1. Rosters people can plan around

Publishing rosters early and keeping last-minute changes to a minimum is one of the most valued, least expensive things an operator can do. Crew with caregiving duties or a second commitment will stay where they can plan their week.

2. Pay that arrives when they need it

Many crew are paid monthly but live week to week. Earned wage access lets them withdraw part of what they have earned after each shift, straight to PayNow. For part-timers and new joiners especially, not having to wait five weeks for the first pay is a real reason to choose one employer over another.

3. A clear path upwards

Showing crew how they move from service crew to shift lead to outlet manager, and what they need to get there, gives them a reason to build a future with you rather than elsewhere.

4. Supervisors who look after people

People often leave managers rather than companies. Training outlet managers on fair rostering, recognition and handling problems early pays off in lower turnover.

5. Less friction with HR

Crew who have to chase HR for payslips, leave balances or advances feel it. Self-service tools such as GetPaid for pay access and AskmyHR for everyday HR questions remove that friction and free up your back office.

Putting it in the job ad

If you offer earned wage access, say so where candidates will see it: "Get paid after every shift" is a line that stands out on a job portal, in a walk-in interview and on a poster at the outlet.

Pay when the shift ends.
