EWA and your payroll: settlement, CPF and the Employment Act

The questions finance and payroll teams ask most about how earned wage access fits with Singapore payroll practice.

Finance and payroll teams are right to ask how a new benefit touches the pay run. Here is how earned wage access with GetPaid fits alongside what you already do.

Your pay date doesn't change

You continue to pay salaries on your usual date. During the month, GetPaid funds any withdrawals employees make. At payday, those withdrawals are netted off and settled in one transaction, with a report that shows every withdrawal by employee.

Gross wages stay the same

An employee who withdraws part of their earnings still earns exactly the same wages for the period. What changes is the timing of part of their net pay. Your wage records, payslips and CPF calculations continue to be based on the wages earned for the salary period.

Employment Act considerations

The Employment Act sets rules on salary periods, when salary must be paid, and what deductions can be made from salary. Earned wage access programmes are set up with employee authorisation for withdrawals to be netted off at payday, and with limits so employees can't withdraw more than they've earned.

We walk your HR, payroll and legal teams through the set-up during onboarding so it fits your contracts and policies.

Cash flow and audit trail

  • No float to pre-fund: withdrawals are funded by GetPaid.
  • One settlement per pay cycle, instead of many ad-hoc advances.
  • A full record of every withdrawal, available to finance and auditors.
